We will provide you with a full report of the findings and a certificate for your records. LOLER and PUWER are UK regulations that apply to the use of forklift trucks and other lifting equipment in the workplace.
THOROUGH EXAMINATIONS MUST BE PERFORMED AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR,
OR MORE FREQUENTLY BASED ON USAGE OR HARSH CONDITIONS
We are proud to be a member of UKMHA and accredited to provide CFTS Thorough Examinations which meet the requirements set out within LOLER and PUWER regulations.
Both LOLER and PUWER place a duty on the employers to ensure that lifting and work equipment is:
- Used safely
- Fit for purpose
- Properly maintained
- Used by trained and competent operators
- In an environment that is suitable for their use
Failure to comply with LOLER and PUWER can result in legal action, fines, and potentially serious accidents or injuries. It is important for employers to take their responsibilities under these regulations seriously and to ensure that forklift trucks and other lifting equipment are properly inspected, maintained, and used safely in the workplace.
Some so-called “Thorough” examinations only cover a fork truck’s lifting mechanism, doing the minimum to meet LOLER 98; but you also have a duty under PUWER 98 to ensure equipment is safe to use – and that requires a much more detailed examination. Only a CFTS accredited Thorough Examination is guaranteed to check the whole truck… so you know it’s really safe to use, and you’re covered for both LOLER 98 and PUWER 98 regulations.
